No More “thanks.”

Written on March 14, 2008

I, the undersigned, recognizing the patronizing and subliminally dismissive communication that the word has now become, from here on pledge to halt all usage of the term “thanks” on any and all communications be they of a personal or business nature. This includes all uses in return emails simply stating “thanks” to colleagues who perform or agree to perform duties that already fall within their respective job descriptions. It also includes the use of “thanks” as a closing note on a long request for a favor. It also includes all uses addressed to family, friends or loved ones.

By signing I also endorse the abolition of all uses of the term “thanks” in all its forms in any and all languages throughout the world in perpetuity.
